Remembering Jabba-bear

It has been one week since Jabba-bear crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

We are slowly adjusting to life without him. Beyonce deeply misses her companion. Now, she can be found curled up in a tight ball on Jabba-bear’s side of the couch, her head pressed gently against his favorite arm rest where he used to perch, gazing out the front door,  paws dangling over the back of the couch.

Thank you for all of the love and support that you have sent our way over the past week. Thank you for sharing your touching stories with us; we were moved by the raw emotion in your words.

We felt that it was appropriate to honor Jabba-bear by sharing some of our favorite photos from the past 4 years. What follows is a small tribute to our sweet boy:

Yes-he may be wearing the "cone of shame", but have you ever seen such a ridiculously happy dog???
A couple of weeks after Jabba’s amputation, the incision site became infected, and we were forced to make him wear an E-collar. In this photo, yes-he may be wearing the “cone of shame”, but have you ever seen such a ridiculously happy dog???

It was a big deal when Jabba-bear re-learned how to jump on the couch (post-amputation).
Eventually we put Jabba-bear in a T-shirt because he broke 2 "cones" (he was clumsy like his mom). in this photo, Jabba excitedly rushes to the door when he sees his maternal grandpawrents' car out front.

  1. What a loveable guy! I love these photos. What a darn cute puppy and he grew into such a charismatic, expression-making, extroverted guy. He was such a great pup! What a beautiful life. Thanks for sharing some favorite memories. He’s clearly missed. Run free and fast, Jabba Bear!

  2. Jabba was such a cute baby. Thank you for sharing his story and all these wonderful memories with us. Run free and play with all those wonderful Warriors who met you at the Bridge Jabba.

  3. Oh gosh, what a loved dog and such a delightful story told through the photos!

Of course his puppy hood photos are deliciously cute!! I love the one where he’s dangling his long legs over the arm of the sofa….and soaking up the sun in his favorite spot is sweet too! Ear in the brain for class??? I’ve heard of the dog eating your homework…………….!

I just love all the photos and I love that you loved him so much! It would be impossible not to with that goofy smile and sparkling eyes looking into our soul!

I know the pain of loss is still heavy and dark and overwhelming. I know the memories of a life so well lived will sustain you and eventually push some of the sadness a little farther away so the happiness Jabba bear wants you to remember can star moving in. The world is a brighter place and all because of a dog with a goofy smile and huge capacity to love.

Please know you are…and will continue to be..in our thoughts. Please give Penelope an extra treat from us today.

Surrounding with all of Jabba Bear’s love and sloppy kisses. They were slooppy weren’t they?? You could just kinda’ tell….

  4. Just also wanted to add how vibrant and handsome
, alert and content he always looks in all his photos, especially the ones you shared with us last week. There’s no difference between a “healthier” Jabba Bear and a “less healthy” Jabba.

Of course, you can probably attribute that to all the fine food you packed Jabb’s tummy with as he was preparing for his journey….pizza!….hot dogs! Pizza hound! Wouldn’t be surprised if he sends you a whiff of pizza to smell when you least expect it! He’s just letting you know he’s okay and getting all the pizza he and his tripawd pals want!

  5. Sweet Jabba, I finally had a chance to look at your pics and am so glad I waited until I wasn’t feeling rushed. Looking at these was like watching your life in front of me, being able to see you grow up gave me a chance to get to know you and see how you grew up to be such a handsome, sweet boy. Your people are wonderful for sharing these with us, it’s a beautiful tribute.

We know your people’s hearts are heavy, it’s definitely not easy to know that time is going by. But we also hope that by sharing photos and stories about your life like they did here, that the good times will start to take the place of the heartache.

    Much love coming your way.

  6. These are just the most gorgeous photos. A beautiful tribute. And the abstract art is amazing.

My heart aches for you. Jabba was cheated of time but he was so blessed with precious, quality time with you. He was so clearly loved.

    Many hugs to you
